Used to stop the penetration of Aluminum and it's dross. Amount used for this purpose is 8-12% by weight.

Can be used as a deoxidant additive for refractory bodies using carbon. Amount needed for this us e varies widely depending on body composition and bond components. Range needed is probably 2-4% by weight.
